                        Mobile app unites anglers worldwide

A mobile app that already has 200,000 users is aiming to unite the fishing community around the world.

Fishsurfing boasts a photo and video gallery of fishing catches, the largest database of private fishing grounds in the UK and Europe, the ability to chat with local guides without the need to know a foreign language and easily translated fishing articles and blogs from around the world.

The app was launched at the end of May after four years of development and has so far recorded over 200,000 registered users.

"There are several hundred thousand people who fish in the United Kingdom and the number of people who do it as a hobby keeps growing,” said app founder Filip Domorád.

“Although fishing is increasing in popularity worldwide there is not yet a platform that connects this specific community.”

According to Filip, Fishsurfing is unique because it has the largest database of local guides – not companies, but real people.

In addition, the app can map up to 4,000 private fishing ground across Europe, Russian-speaking countries and tropical countries such as Thailand, and shows the largest database of fishing stores in Europe, North and South America and Australia.

"We have just added the largest database of accommodation for anglers to the application, and we plan to also gradually add European state fishing grounds", added Filip.

Currently, the application focuses primarily on the European market, as most registered fishermen come from France, Poland and the United Kingdom.

It is available for Android and iOS and is translated into 18 world languages. In the coming years, Filip plans to fully introduce the application on other continents.

Lancashire park lake produces 30lb common

A Lancashire park lake gave Lauren Hogan a new personal best in the shape of this 30lb common.

The fish is the biggest carp in the North West venue and came moments after Lauren spotted signs of activity.

The 20-year-old, who was fishing with her partner, told Carpfeed: “We had already been here for 24 hours at this point and I still hadn’t had a beep until I saw the only fish we had seen so far bosh not far from me.

“Five minutes later my rod screamed off!

It’s a new venue record for the water at 30lb

“I hit into it and it broke the surface straight away. It erupted and my rod doubled over.

“This battle went on for 20 minutes – it was by far the best fight of my life and it broke my pb by 10lb.”

The full-time carp angler fished a bright-yellow pop-up on a 360 rig over a small bed of crushed boilies and hemp.

TV star nets 43lb 8oz day-ticket cracker

A reality-TV star said he was left ‘speechless’ after banking a new 40-pounder at a popular day-ticket water.

Former TOWIE man Ricky Rayment caught Jigsaw from Monument Two at a new top weight of 43lb 8oz. The fish had not been caught for nearly 18 months.

Speaking to Carpfeed, Ricky said: “Buzzing was an understatement! I was in shock and speechless for the rest of the day!”

The 30-year-old set up in swim 10a – the right-hand side of a double swim at the Shropshire venue – and received the take while he was snoozing.

He said: “I had some info from Tom Maker and Angling Direct’s Hassan Khan on how many wraps was the norm – I was told 16 to 18 wraps.

“As it’s only a two-rod limit I had one rod at 16 wraps and one at 15 wraps, both pretty central and towards the opposite swim as a marker.”

Ricky chose not to spod and introduced just a few of the fishery’s own Spicy Sausage boilies with a throwing stick over the top of his solid bags.

He added: “It was an early start so after a couple hours of tidying up I had a nap and… boom! The alarm on the shorter rod at 15 wraps went mental and I was into a fish!

“I knew the stock was crazy at RH so my heart was pounding with excitement. As soon as I picked the rod up I knew it was a decent fish.

“After a slow, strong and anxious battle, the fish went into the net and I knew that it was a good one.

“Little did I know it was going to be one of the A-Team fish, that hadn’t been caught for 18 months, at a new record of 43lb 8oz!”

                                Fjuka 2in1 Bait

It matters not if you are a newcomer to fishing, a fair-weather pleasure angler or a seasoned matchman – these new Fjuka baits should have a place in your bait box.

Easy to use, and great value, they come in two variants – soft fluoro pink, orange, yellow and white Shapers Hookbaits, and the yellow, white and red Fjuka 2in1 Baits.

All are impregnated with a high leakage ‘Sensate’ attractant, which works as soon as the baits hit the water. Both have a pliant yet robust feel to them. The pellets can be hooked direct, hair-rigged or pellet banded, or be combined to make different shapes and sizes of multi-coloured hookbaits.

They can also be moulded to imitate natural baits such as maggots, worms and corn, or formed into balls, cubes… the choice is yours.
